Transportation

Don’t Wait! How to Plan Your Transport

We can start building community now…

Location:

Ghost Ranch is in Abiquiú, New Mexico. This rural town is a 2.5 hour car drive from Albuquerque Airport, and 1.75 hours from Santa Fe Airport. Because of our location, we strongly recommend you start planning how to get to this event as soon as you can.

Help us to help you!

We want to be helpful, and support the easy transport of every participant. However, the later we receive requests for assistance, the less likely we can offer that help, and the more expensive your options will become.

The official start time of the Intensive is during registration on May 14th, from 3:00-5:00p (when the venue’s registration desk closes). Official ending time is after lunch on May 18th at 1:00p.

We strongly encourage attendees who are flying in to find flights, if available, that make it possible for you to arrive early enough on Wednesday, and leave late enough on Sunday to work with this schedule. If you plan to arrive late or leave early, we are less likely to be able to help. Also, if you plan to arrive before May 14th or leave after May 18th, we will probably be unable to assist you with transport.

How to Get or to Offer Assistance:

  • First, thoroughly read the below information. Please read it BEFORE purchasing airline tickets!
  • Then, fill out our online transportation questionnaire (see below). We encourage each participant to do this as soon after registering or purchasing airline tickets as possible. The final due date is March 15th, but PLEASE do this much earlier if you are able.
  • Due to the complex nature of trying to assist transportation for so many different people, we ask that EVERY participant fill out the form, even if you do not need assistance. It will greatly help our planning. It will only take a few moments. Thank you!

Airports:

  • Albuquerque Airport: This is the likely target airport for most participants who are flying, because it’s a larger facility. You will usually find more flights, less expensive flights, and more workable and affordable options for ground transport. However, feel free to check Santa Fe Airport in case that is more convenient. Albuquerque Airport is about one hour further away from Ghost Ranch than Santa Fe Airport.
  • Santa Fe Airport: Again, this is a smaller airport, usually with fewer flights, more expensive flights, and fewer ground transport options. Generally, you will find it harder to get to Ghost Ranch from this airport, even though it is about one hour closer. Feel free to make use of this airport if its suits your travel needs best.

Ways to Get to Ghost Ranch:

    1. Get yourself there: Either by driving your own car, renting a car, or contacting someone you know who is going and traveling with them.
    2. Ride our shuttle: The best way to get there! You can enjoy the scenery and not worry about directions. However, to make this work, we need early commitments, since the Intensive is privately renting this service. See more below.
        • Scheduled Trips (times are approximate) :
          • May 14th: We will have one shuttle leaving Albuquerque Airport at approximately 1:00p, and from Santa Fe Airport (if needed) at about 2:00p.
          • May 18th: We will have one shuttle leaving Ghost Ranch at about 1:00p, and arriving at Santa Fe Airport (if needed) at about 3:00p, and at Albuquerque Airport at about 4:00p.
          • You must make your flight plans to work with these times. We cannot adjust the shuttle schedule.
        • Deposit:
          • A non-refundable deposit of $25 for each direction is due by April 30th to reserve a spot.
          • The shuttle requires at least 3 committed travelers each way (we will fully refund your deposit if the shuttle doesn’t have enough riders).
          • Therefore, please make your deposit as soon as you decide to use this option, because the sooner we know we have enough people, we can assure riders it will be available.
          • If we do not have enough commitments by April 30th, we will inform participants that they need to find an alternative method to get to the event.
        • Cost: One way cost depends on number of riders, $45-$125, plus gratuity.
    3. Carpooling:
        • Ask us ASAP to help you connect with another registrant to carpool and/or share a car rental.
        • Give us your information about best arrival and departure window times, and airport destinations, to possibly get this assistance.
        • We can only arrange for carpooling to the airports (as available). We will not be asking drivers to drop people off at a variety of locations.
        • You must offer cost sharing to your driver (gas and car rental costs).
        • We cannot guarantee that we will find anyone a ride, but if we hear from participants early, we can often find a ride for them.
        • However, this is the option that we often do not have full information about until later, as drivers are also making their own plans. Please take that into account.
        • If you are driving your own car or renting a car, and wish to share, let us know ASAP so we can find you fellow riders. They’ll help with your costs and make the drive more fun!
        • Contact rental car agencies at your destination airport if you wish to rent.
