“Ghost Ranch is an unbelievable place. It is beautiful and serene. God’s hand of creation is all over the mountains’ cracks and crevices here. You find peace here…”
Ghost Ranch is a camp and conference center conveniently located north of Santa Fe in beautiful Northern New Mexico. Here, you discover that in the stark beauty of the desert, there is abundant life, spirit and beauty. Georgia O’Keeffe, who made her home here, said “It is not a country of light on things, it is a country of things in light.”

This is a great location if you decide to add leisure time to surrounding areas – Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Taos and many other world-class vacation locales are nearby.

The breakfasts are especially famous! Meals are served cafeteria style, with a choice of indoor or outdoor dining. We have a separate full kitchen for our use during the event, for participants to meet their own dietary needs.

Location & Travel

Ghost Ranch is located in a peacefully rural location, providing attendees with a deep sense of “getting away from it all.” It is about an hour and a half from Santa Fe Airport (SAF), and about two and a half hours from Albuquerque Airport (ABQ). For more information about how to get to Ghost Ranch, go to our Transportation Page.

Northern New Mexico is an amazing place to explore, learn, adventure and rest. Santa Fe and Albuquerque are cultural centers. Within a few hours are Taos, the “Enchanted Circle,” the Jemez Mountains and its hot springs, and Chaco Canyon. We are rich with both ancient history, represented by the Puebloan peoples, more recent history in our Hispanic culture, and modern culture in the artists who have been attracted to this area over the last century.

More About Ghost Ranch

From their website:

Ghost Ranch is a place of magnificent natural beauty. It is comprised of deep, multicolored canyons and cliffs, plains, grasslands, and streams. The Ranch is located on the far eastern end of the Colorado Plateau. Its rocks span 130 million years of ancient geological history, representing lakes, floodplains, and deserts. Dinosaurs once walked the soggy wetlands that became the arid high desert of Ghost Ranch. Fossils illuminate the beginning of the age of the dinosaur in North America.

The first ancient people attracted to this area used the resources of the landscape left by ancestral sediments deposited 200 million years ago when the region was much closer to the equator. More recently, Navajo (Diné) and Puebloan people called this area home. The Spaniards settled here and then came the cattle rustlers, the wranglers, and the dudes. Later colonizers from other lands, including artists, adventurers, and entrepreneurs were attracted by the stunning beauty.

When the cattle rustlers were hiding their stolen goods in the box canyon alongside Kitchen Mesa, they discouraged their neighbors from looking around by spreading the rumor that the land was haunted by evil spirits. “Rancho de los Brujos” it was called, “Ranch of the Witches,” which naturally evolved into Ghost Ranch. The turn-off to Ghost Ranch was marked by an animal skull long before Arthur Pack bought the ranch in 1936. When Georgia O’Keeffe came looking for the ranch she was told to watch for the skull on a fence post. O’Keeffe made a drawing of an ox skull and gave it to Arthur Pack; he promptly adopted the artwork as the logo for Ghost Ranch.

Paul Fogg, executive director, welcomes us: “Talking about Ghost Ranch, Georgia O’Keeffe said ‘It is not a country of light on things, it is a country of things in light.’ It is my privilege to invite you see ‘things in light.’ It is quite surreal to step into such a majestic, beautiful, and wise space. Our spirits and souls need moments like this in these times…”
